Correction and Retraction

The International Journal of Multidisciplinary Science (IJMS) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of the scholarly record. In accordance with best practices in academic publishing and the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), IJMS provides mechanisms for correcting or retracting published articles when necessary.

Corrections (Erratum and Corrigendum)

A correction may be issued when a published article contains errors that affect the clarity, accuracy, or integrity of the work but do not invalidate the overall findings of the study.

Corrections may include:

  • Typographical errors that affect interpretation

  • Errors in author names or affiliations

  • Errors in figures, tables, or data presentation

  • Minor mistakes in methodology or references

Corrections are published as Erratum (for publisher errors) or Corrigendum (for author errors). The corrected information will be clearly linked to the original article, and the article record will indicate that a correction has been made.

Retractions

A retraction is issued when a published article is found to contain serious problems that invalidate the results or conclusions. Retractions are made to correct the scholarly record and ensure research integrity.

An article may be retracted in cases such as:

  • Evidence of plagiarism

  • Data fabrication or falsification

  • Duplicate publication

  • Unethical research practices

  • Serious methodological errors that invalidate the findings

  • Unauthorized use of data or materials

Retractions may be initiated by the authors, editors, publisher, or institutions involved in the research.

The retraction notice will:

  • Clearly identify the retracted article

  • State the reasons for the retraction

  • Be linked to the original article

  • Remain permanently available to readers

The original article will remain accessible in the journal archive but will be clearly marked as “Retracted” to maintain transparency in the scholarly record.

Expressions of Concern

In cases where there are concerns about the integrity of a published article but the investigation is still ongoing, the journal may issue an Expression of Concern to inform readers while further review is conducted.

Post-Publication Updates

Any corrections, retractions, or editorial notes will be published promptly and transparently to ensure the reliability of the journal’s scholarly record.
