Screening for Plagiarism

RIBAB: Review of Islamic Business Arbitration is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing practices. To ensure the originality and authenticity of all submitted manuscripts, the journal implements a strict plagiarism screening policy.

All manuscripts submitted to RIBAB will be screened for plagiarism using reliable plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin, iThenticate, or other similar tools before entering the peer review process. This screening is conducted to identify potential cases of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, or improper citation of sources.

Similarity Check

Manuscripts submitted to the journal are expected to meet acceptable similarity standards. In general, the similarity index should not exceed 20%, excluding references, properly quoted text, and bibliographic materials. Manuscripts with a higher similarity index may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected at the discretion of the editorial board.

Types of Plagiarism

The journal considers the following practices as unacceptable:

  • Direct plagiarism, which involves copying text or ideas from another source without proper citation.

  • Self-plagiarism, which occurs when authors reuse substantial parts of their own previously published work without appropriate acknowledgment.

  • Mosaic plagiarism, which involves mixing copied phrases or ideas from multiple sources without proper attribution.

  • Duplicate publication, which refers to submitting or publishing the same manuscript in more than one journal without proper disclosure.

Editorial Actions

If plagiarism or unethical publication practices are identified at any stage of the submission or publication process, the editorial board will take appropriate actions, including:

  • Returning the manuscript to the author for correction or revision

  • Immediate rejection of the manuscript

  • Retraction of the published article if plagiarism is detected after publication

  • Notification to the authors’ affiliated institutions if serious misconduct is identified

Authors’ Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original works and that all sources are properly cited and acknowledged. Authors should ensure that quotations, paraphrased materials, and data derived from other sources are clearly referenced in accordance with the journal’s citation guidelines.
