Screening for Plagiarism

TORIQIYAH: Journal of Educational Approaches is fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ensuring that all published articles are original and ethically produced. To uphold the credibility and quality of scholarly publishing, every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes a strict plagiarism screening process before entering the peer-review stage.

1. Plagiarism Detection

All submitted manuscripts are screened using reliable plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin or iThenticate, prior to the peer-review process.

The editorial team carefully examines the similarity report to identify any potential overlap with previously published works. Properly cited quotations, references, and bibliographic materials are excluded from similarity assessments.

2. Acceptable Similarity Index

To maintain the integrity and credibility of publications in TORIQIYAH: Journal of Educational Approaches, the journal applies the following similarity index policy:

Similarity ≤ 20% → The manuscript may proceed to the peer-review process.

Similarity 21%–30% → The manuscript will be returned to the authors for mandatory revision and proper citation.

Similarity > 30% → The manuscript will be rejected without entering the peer-review process.

3. Author Responsibilities

Authors submitting manuscripts to TORIQIYAH: Journal of Educational Approaches must:

  • Ensure that their manuscripts are original and have not been previously published elsewhere.

  • Provide accurate citations and references for all sources used in the manuscript.

  • Avoid self-plagiarism and duplicate submissions.

  • Properly paraphrase and acknowledge any reused ideas, data, or textual content.

4. Editorial Actions

If plagiarism is detected, the editorial team will take appropriate actions based on the level of similarity and the severity of the violation.

For minor similarity (≤ 20%), the manuscript may proceed to the peer-review process.

For moderate similarity (21%–30%), the manuscript will be returned to the authors for revision.

For severe similarity (> 30%), the manuscript will be rejected immediately.

In cases of serious or repeated plagiarism, the journal reserves the right to:

  • Notify the authors’ affiliated institutions.

  • Reject future submissions from the author(s).

  • Retract published articles if plagiarism is discovered after publication.

5. Post-Publication Policy

If plagiarism is identified after an article has been published, the editorial board will conduct a formal investigation. The authors will be contacted for clarification. If plagiarism is confirmed, the article will be retracted and a retraction notice will be published explaining the reason for the retraction.

6. Ethical Standards

TORIQIYAH: Journal of Educational Approaches adheres to the ethical publishing standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). By submitting manuscripts to this journal, authors agree to comply with the journal’s plagiarism screening policy, including the maximum similarity index requirement.
