Correction and Retraction

Corrections

USWAH: Journal of Sustainable Development Goals in Education recognizes that errors may occasionally occur in published articles. When such errors are identified, the journal will take appropriate measures to correct the scholarly record while maintaining transparency and academic integrity.

Corrections may be issued in the form of:

Erratum

An erratum is issued when an error originates from the editorial or publishing process, such as formatting mistakes, typographical errors, or other production-related issues.

Corrigendum

A corrigendum is issued when the error originates from the author, such as inaccuracies in data presentation, author information, or other minor mistakes that do not affect the overall validity of the research findings.

When necessary, a formal correction notice will be published and linked to the original article.

Retraction

The journal may retract a published article if serious ethical issues or major errors are discovered after publication. Retraction is intended to maintain the integrity and reliability of the scholarly record.

Retractions are carried out following the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Reasons for Retraction

An article may be retracted if:

  • there is clear evidence of plagiarism

  • data fabrication or falsification is identified

  • the article has been previously published elsewhere without proper acknowledgment (duplicate publication)

  • serious methodological errors invalidate the research findings

  • the article involves unethical research practices

Retraction Procedure

If a potential issue is identified, the editorial board will conduct an investigation. The process includes:

  1. Initial evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief

  2. Communication with the author(s) for clarification

  3. Review of evidence and documentation

  4. Editorial decision regarding correction or retraction

If an article is retracted, the article will remain accessible on the journal website but will be clearly marked as “Retracted”, and a retraction notice will be published explaining the reasons for the retraction.

Transparency and Integrity

The retraction notice will include:

  • the title of the retracted article

  • the names of the authors

  • the reason for the retraction

  • the date of the retraction
