Peer Review Procces

All manuscripts submitted to USWAH: Journal of Sustainable Development Goals in Education undergo a rigorous and transparent double-blind peer review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and research integrity. In this process, the identities of both the authors and reviewers are concealed to maintain objectivity and fairness during the evaluation process.

Initial Editorial Screening

After submission, the editorial team conducts an initial screening to ensure that the manuscript fits the journal’s focus and scope, follows the author guidelines, and meets basic academic writing standards.

Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts are checked using plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or iThenticate. Manuscripts with a high similarity index may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected if plagiarism is detected.

Editorial Assessment

The Editor-in-Chief or assigned editor evaluates the manuscript for its relevance, originality, methodological rigor, and potential contribution to the field of sustainable development and education.

Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. The journal prioritizes the involvement of national and international reviewers to ensure broader academic perspectives and global standards.

During the review process, reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on several criteria, including:

  • originality and novelty of the research

  • clarity of objectives and research methodology

  • relevance to Sustainable Development Goals in education

  • quality of analysis and discussion

  • significance of the contribution to educational research

Reviewer Recommendations

Reviewers provide detailed comments and recommendations to the editor. The possible recommendations include:

  • Accept without revision

  • Accept with minor revisions

  • Accept with major revisions

  • Reject

Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers’ comments and recommendations, the editor makes the final decision regarding the manuscript and communicates it to the authors.

Revision and Final Decision

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to the reviewers’ comments. The revised manuscript will be evaluated again by the editor or reviewers before a final decision is made.

Publication Ethics

USWAH adheres to internationally recognized publication ethics and best practices, including the ethical guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process (authors, editors, reviewers, and publisher) are expected to uphold ethical standards in scholarly publishing.

The entire peer review process typically takes 4–8 weeks, depending on the availability of reviewers and the extent of revisions required.
