Correction and Retraction
The International Journal of Islamic Religious Education (IJIRE) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the scholarly record. We follow the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines when handling corrections, retractions, and updates to published content.
1. Corrections
Corrections are issued when minor errors are identified in a published article that do not affect the overall results, conclusions, or reliability of the research. These may include:
-
Typographical or formatting mistakes.
-
Incorrect author names, affiliations, or acknowledgments.
-
Minor inaccuracies in figures, tables, or references.
Correction Process:
-
Authors must notify the editorial office by email at editorijireeduglobal@gmail.com.
-
The request must include the article title, DOI, publication date, and a clear description of the error.
-
After verification, the editorial team will publish a Correction Notice linked to the original article.
-
The original article remains accessible and unchanged, with the correction notice clearly visible.
2. Retractions
Retractions are issued when a published article is found to contain serious errors or ethical breaches that invalidate its findings or compromise academic integrity. Situations warranting retraction include:
-
Plagiarism or self-plagiarism.
-
Data fabrication or falsification.
-
Unethical research practices.
-
Duplicate publication in another journal.
-
Significant errors that fundamentally alter the study’s conclusions.
Retraction Process:
-
Retraction requests can be initiated by authors, readers, reviewers, or the editorial board.
-
The editorial team conducts a thorough investigation in accordance with COPE guidelines.
-
If retraction is justified, a Retraction Notice is published, clearly linked to the original article.
-
The original article is watermarked as “Retracted” but remains accessible for transparency and scholarly record purposes.
3. Post-Publication Issues
If an issue is discovered after publication, the editorial team will take one of the following actions based on the severity:
-
Correction Notice → For minor errors that do not affect the overall validity.
-
Retraction Notice → For severe ethical misconduct or invalid findings.
-
Expression of Concern → If an investigation is ongoing but unresolved.
4. Author Responsibilities
Authors must:
-
Notify the journal immediately if they discover significant errors in their published work.
-
Cooperate fully with the editorial team during correction or retraction processes.
-
Avoid practices that compromise academic honesty and ethical standards.
5. Editorial Commitment
IJIRE is committed to:
-
Upholding transparency in corrections and retractions.
-
Protecting the credibility of the scholarly record.
-
Ensuring compliance with COPE and international best practices in academic publishing.
