Screening for Plagiarism
The International Journal of Islamic Religious Education (IJIRE) is fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ensuring that all published articles are original and ethically produced. To achieve this, every manuscript submitted to IJIRE is subjected to a strict plagiarism screening process before entering the peer-review stage.
1. Plagiarism Detection
-
All submitted manuscripts are screened using trusted plagiarism detection tools, such as Turnitin or iThenticate.
-
The editorial team carefully reviews the similarity report to evaluate any overlapping content.
-
Quotations, references, and properly attributed materials are excluded from similarity calculations.
2. Acceptable Similarity Index
To maintain the integrity and credibility of IJIRE publications, the journal enforces the following strict policy:
-
Similarity ≤ 20% → Accepted for peer review.
-
Similarity 21%–30% → Returned to authors for mandatory revision and proper citation.
-
Similarity > 30% → Rejected immediately without entering the peer-review process.
3. Author Responsibilities
Authors submitting to IJIRE must:
-
Ensure that their manuscripts are entirely original and have not been published elsewhere.
-
Provide accurate citations for all referenced works using the APA 7th edition referencing style.
-
Avoid self-plagiarism and duplicate submissions.
-
Properly paraphrase and acknowledge any reused content.
4. Editorial Actions
If plagiarism is detected, IJIRE will take appropriate actions based on severity:
-
For minor overlap (≤ 20%), the manuscript proceeds to peer review.
-
For moderate overlap (21%–30%), authors must revise and resubmit their manuscripts.
-
For severe overlap (> 30%), the submission is rejected outright.
In serious or repeated cases, IJIRE reserves the right to:
-
Notify the authors’ affiliated institutions.
-
Reject all future submissions from the author(s).
-
Retract published articles if plagiarism is identified post-publication.
5. Post-Publication Policy
If plagiarism is discovered after an article has been published, IJIRE will:
-
Launch a formal investigation.
-
Contact the author(s) for clarification.
-
Retract the article from the journal if plagiarism is confirmed.
-
Publish a retraction notice explaining the reason.
6. Ethical Standards
IJIRE strictly follows the ethical publishing principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). By submitting to IJIRE, authors agree to comply with the journal’s plagiarism screening policy, including the maximum similarity index of 20%.
