Peer Review Procces

The International Journal of Islamic Religious Education (IJIRE) implements a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of all submitted manuscripts. Neither the authors nor the reviewers know each other’s identities during the review process.

Review Workflow

  1. Initial Screening
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to ensure they comply with the journal’s scope, submission guidelines, and ethical standards. Manuscripts that fail to meet these criteria are returned to the authors for revision or rejected.

  2. Assignment to Reviewers
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two qualified reviewers who are experts in the relevant field of study.

  3. Double-Blind Review
The reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on its originality, relevance, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, and contribution to the field.
Reviewers provide detailed feedback, including recommendations to:

    • Accept the manuscript without changes

    • Accept with minor revisions

    • Require major revisions

    • Reject the manuscript

  4. Author Revision
If revisions are required, the manuscript is returned to the authors for correction. Authors must address all reviewer comments and resubmit within the specified timeframe.

  5. Final Decision
After reviewing the revised manuscript, the editorial team makes the final decision to accept or reject the submission based on reviewers’ recommendations.

  6. Publication
Accepted manuscripts are processed for copyediting, typesetting, and online publication in the upcoming issue.

Review Timeline

  • Initial Screening: 1–2 weeks

  • Peer Review: 4–6 weeks

  • Revision and Final Decision: 2–3 weeks

The estimated total review process takes approximately 6 to 10 weeks, depending on the complexity of the manuscript and the speed of author revisions.

Ethical Guidelines

IJIRE follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
Reviewers and editors must ensure:

  • Objectivity and confidentiality during the review process

  • No conflicts of interest

  • Constructive and professional feedback
